Watch for the unbundling problem
A website redesign is rarely one artifact. It can include page templates, mobile layouts, components, copy, imagery, forms, analytics, implementation, content entry, testing, redirects, and launch. A packaged service may address one useful part without claiming to address the rest. The gap is not necessarily a flaw in the package; it is a planning responsibility for the buyer.
Ask one question before every purchase: if this delivery arrives exactly as described, what still does not exist? List the remaining work and name its owner. If several packages are required, also name the person who will maintain visual consistency, reconcile file formats, join components, and accept the integrated result. Buying pieces implicitly assigns integration unless the project says otherwise.
Do this inventory before ordering, not after the first file arrives. A planning pass can reveal that one package really is sufficient, that several coordinated purchases are viable, or that the project needs a broader engagement with a single accountable owner.
Resolve revisions, source files, and rights in writing
A revision count is incomplete until both sides know what a revision means. A colour change, content replacement, alternate layout, and new page are different kinds of request. Ask what is included, what becomes new work, who gives final approval, and how conflicting feedback will be resolved.
For source files, name the formats and whether they must be layered, editable, or component-based. List required exported assets and sizes. Identify every font, stock image, icon, or template dependency and who holds the needed licence. Opening the files on the buyer's own machine should be part of acceptance, not a task deferred until the marketplace engagement is over.
Fiverr's client FAQ describes an ownership default subject to the Gig description and full payment. Both routes can end with files. A working site also needs templates or components in a real platform, actual content, responsive behavior, hosting and domain control, accessible interaction, functional testing, analytics, redirects, deployment, and maintenance. Unless a listing or agreement includes those tasks, assign them separately.
Accessibility and testing are easy to leave unowned. A design can show colour contrast and focus styling, but the build determines keyboard operation, labels, semantics, validation, and error recovery. A screenshot cannot prove that a form sends, a checkout charges correctly, or analytics record the intended event. Define the test evidence and the person responsible for it.
Store the final files, licence records, approved scope, delivery record, and decisions somewhere controlled by the business. Marketplace accounts and conversations should support the archive, not be the archive. This also makes a future handoff or redesign less dependent on one seller or one login.
